Majestic Governor Rafael "Raffy" M. Garcia III

    Raffy Garcia came home to the Philippines in 1969 as the first Filipino graduate degree holder in Computer Science. He promptly made a name for himself and was nicknamed “Mr. Computer” in the early 70’s going from being a Supervising Consultant in data processing for Sycip Gorres Velayo, to being Vice President for Operations of Asia Computer Services, then Vice President for EDP of Meralco Securities Investment Corporation, holding company of the Manila Electric Company, the largest power utility in the Philippines. Then started the Online Corporation for the Genbank/Yujuico Group, followed by Summa Computer Services Corporation, Uniphil Computer Corporation, and Herdis Jardine-Davies Inc. For Herdis Group.

    In 1983, he bought selected assets and liabilities of Summa Computer Services Corporation from the Herdis Group and used these as the foundation for what has become the Mega Group of Companies, a multinational conglomerate of 44 companies with offices in the United States, Argentina, China, India, Ireland and Equatorial Guinea, specializing in high technology products, solutions, and systems.

    He was elected in 1979 to the Young Presidents Organization, a world-wide organization of the leading businessmen and professionals in over 160 countries. He graduated to the World Presidents Organization in 1994, where he is a life member.

    He has been a Rotarian since 1971 being the first non-charter member of the Rotary Club of Pasig. He finally acceded to become President in 2006 and soon after was elected in 2009 as the District Governor for Rotary Year 2011-2012 for District 3800 which encompasses the Metro Manila suburban cities of Mandaluyong, San Juan, Pasig, Marikina, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Antipolo, Taytay, Cainta, Tanay, Pililla, Teresa and Rizal province. He is a Major Donor Level 4 and has received numerous Rotary awards including the Most Outstanding Club President in 2006-2007 and the Rotary International Four Avenues of Service Award in 2007.
