Handover and Induction Ceremonies

After a long preparation of seminars and trainings, July 1 signalled the start of the new Rotary Year. 574 Rotarians, spouses and guests assembled at the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila in Quezon City to witness the induction of Global Governor Virgilio “Jun” Farcon, Jr. and the handover of authority from Visionary Governor Rodolfo “Rudy” San Felipe.
It is the first time in our district to have a second generation Rotarian installed as District Governor. DG Jun is the son of PP Virgilio “Ver” Farcon, Sr. of RC Marikina and the late PP Lourdes “Ludy” Farcon of RC San Juan. He is also one of the four incumbent governors worldwide who were former Interactors/Rotaractors. DG Jun is also is the third governor from the Rotary Club of Marikina.
The highlights of the event were as follows:
- valedictory address of outgoing governor, Visionary Governor Rudy San Felipe
- singing of the visionary district song and “Handog” sang by the Visionary Presidents
- induction of Global Governor Jun Farcon, administered by RC Marikina charter member and senior governor, PDG Arsenio “Ting” Tanco
- handover of the bell and gavel, District flag and documents from IPDG Rudy to DG Jun
- presentation of the Distinguished Service Award to IPDG Rudy San Felipe
- the inaugural address of DG Jun Farcon emphasizing on BIGGER, BETTER and BOLDER clubs
- induction of the Spouses Executive and Working Committees, District Officers and Global Presidents
- handover from the Visionary presidents to the Global presidents of the custom made Rotary theme bell of all the 86 clubs in the District
- presentation of tokens to the new Paul Harris Fellows (PHF), Multiple PHF and Major Donors from PRID Paing Hechanova, PDG Mac Hermoso, PDG Efren de Guzman and DG Jun Farcon
- fellowship and entertainment by Mulato band and violinist John Lesaca
The Handover and Induction Ceremonies marked the beginning of the new Rotary Year. It is now time for Clubs in RI District 3800 to BUILD COMMUNITIES and BRIDGE CONTINENTS.
